The Baileigh MDC-550 is a 5 HP dry dust collector built for metal finishing, not woodworking. That distinction matters: metal dust is dense, and a collector sized for wood chips often cannot generate the air velocity needed to pull it out of a wide belt sander or grinding station. The MDC-550 moves 3,583 CFM at 6,555 FPM through a 10" inlet, with dual 5" inlets on the adapter so it can serve two wide belt sanders or several grinding and deburring stations at once.

Filtration is the other place most collectors fall short. Many dry units filter to roughly 30 microns, which passes the fine particulate produced by finer polishing straight back into the shop or straight into a clogged exhaust filter. The MDC-550 uses two 5 micron paper filters that capture 84.3% of particles in the 1 to 3 micron range and 95.4% in the 3 to 10 micron range. Collected debris drops into a fireproof non-woven bag with 126L capacity, held in a front-accessible bin on casters for quick disposal.

The unit is certified to UL 1017 and runs at 85 dB measured 5 ft from the impeller. A multi-function emergency stop with a removable key lets a supervisor secure the collector between shifts, and casters on the cabinet make it easy to reposition for cleaning or maintenance.

Wired for 230V three phase power on a recommended 30A breaker. Order the MDC-550H for 460V service. The dry MDC-550 is the right choice for stainless, mild steel, carbon steel, alloy steel, cast iron, and tool steel. For aluminum, titanium, copper, brass, or any combustible reactive metal dust, use the MWDC-550 wet collector instead.

We reserve the right to determine the fastest and most cost-effective manner of transportation for all orders that qualify for free shipping. We use USPS, which typically takes 2-8 days for delivery, depending on your location, for smaller items and UPS Ground for all other ground shipments under 150 pounds.

Because items are your responsibility until they reach us, we recommend that you send the parcel using a delivery service that insures you of the value of the goods. Return shipping is at the customer's cost. At Beaver Industrial Supply’s discretion, delivery charges can be refunded if the goods are defective.

Returns require a return authorization number. Please call customer service at 314-773-5999 or submit a customer service inquiry to start the exchange or return process and receive an authorization number.

Machinery too large for parcel shipment (palletized or crated) is only returnable if there is a material defect that cannot be resolved by replacing components.
